Artistic Statement

I am primarily a water media artist who practices in watercolor and acrylic painting. I choose to explore the maximum expression of transparent and opaque color using these two diverse mediums. Complimentary color interaction as well as beautiful compositions are equally my subjects. The creative ideas for most of my artwork come, primarily, from an excitement about a particular color grouping. I am drawn to compositions and themes which allow for the juxtaposition of opposing colors, re-organized to create vibrancy.

The predominant influences for my art throughout my lifetime include those artists who also love expression through color and movement played off in a strong or endearing theme. I was influenced by the French Impressionists, the illustrators from “The Golden Age of Illustration” as well as contemporary watercolor artist, Jeanie Dobie.

My work reflects these influences and expresses beautiful, livable themes.
